Billy Jack Dempsey Jr.

Mr. Billy Jack Dempsey Jr., 44, of Somerville, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 10, 2026, at Crestwood Hospital. Born on April 17, 1982, in Cook County, Illinois, Billy was the son of Billy Jack Dempsey Sr. and Donna Jo Combs. He graduated from Albert P. Brewer High School in 2000, was of the Baptist faith, and worked as a long-haul owner-operator truck driver for Swift. Throughout his life, Billy was known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Family was at the center of Billy’s life. He loved his family deeply, and his nieces and nephews held an especially cherished place in his heart. Those who knew him will remember his kind and gentle nature, his infectious smile, and the playful mischievousness that brought laughter and joy to those around him. Billy found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was fishing, boating, riding motorcycles, or traveling the open road, he embraced every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and the freedom he loved so much. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Jack Dempsey Sr.; his grandparents, Earl and Shirley Combs of Somerville; and his grandmother, Irene Dempsey White of Somerville. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Donna Jo Stewart, and stepfather, Billy Stewart, of Somerville; his twin sister, Kristina Nay and husband, Robert, of Huntsville; his brother, Dylan Stewart and wife, Aubree, of Somerville; his nieces, Kinzie Pinson and husband, Buddy, of Huntsville, and Rylee Adams and husband, Aulden, of Somerville; and his nephew, Dylan Nay and wife, Dakota, of Belleville, Illinois. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. Billy’s life was marked by love, loyalty, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those he cared about. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. The family has chosen cremation in accordance with Billy’s wishes. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. A private burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
